Getting to Know About Hemorrhoids Symptoms

Absolutely nobody in his right mind will want to experience hemorrhoids symptoms.  Unfortunately, the human body is a frail machine subject to the vagaries of age such that by the time you are 50 years of age, you would have developed one or two of the signs of hemorrhoids and yet not know it.

How is this possible when hemorrhoids can be painful especially because of their sensitive location?  The answer is simple – hemorrhoids often just go away without the intervention of medical science.  In fact, you will notice that the emphasis is on the phrase “can be painful” as internal hemorrhoids are not painful.  This is, sadly, not the case with external hemorrhoids.

Still, it pays to know of the other hemorrhoids symptoms so that you can immediately adopt treatment measures. It must be emphasized that treatment options must always include lifestyle changes in order to prevent a painful recurrence. You may think of medication and surgery as emergency measures.

So, what exactly are the symptoms of hemorrhoids?  Often, the location determines the symptoms.  On one hand, if you have internal hemorrhoids, rectal bleeding is the first sign. It can show up either as blood streaks on the toilet paper or on the toilet bowl or on the stool itself.  There is almost always no pain involved.

On the other hand, if you have a case of external hemorrhoids, pain is often the enemy especially when the bulging vein is on the anal surface.  Just like with internal hemorrhoids, the external type is also accompanied by anal itching, skin irritation and bowel discomfort.

There is a more urgent need to know about hemorrhoids symptoms especially when you are 50 years old and above or if your family has a history of colorectal cancer.  These medical symptoms might very well be for the Big C, which you should act on as soon as possible.
